Los Angeles, CA – On March 26th, 2023, Greg Hosharian and the Armenian Pops Ensemble, an 11-person ensemble, delivered a captivating performance at the AGBU Vatche & Tamar Manoukian Center. The sold-out concert drew a crowd of 600 enthusiastic attendees.
The evening was a celebration of musical excellence, featuring performances by award-winning guitarist Saro Babikian, recipient of the 2017 Edward Hosharian Scholarship, and Maestro Hosharian's niece, Gisele Hosharian, who debuted her vocal talents. The concert also showcased the remarkable skills of violinist Angela Amirian and vocalist Alene Aroustamian, with Joshua Madrigal serving as the evening's master of ceremonies.
A highlight of the night was the premiere of Greg Hosharian's original composition, "Rhapsody in Red, Blue, and Orange." This piece, inspired by George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue," took the audience on an integrated, episodic journey of contrasting moods and feelings, staying true to the rhapsody form.
Proceeds from the event support the Edward Hosharian Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and enhancing Armenian classical and ethnic music.
