Meet 2018 EHF Scholarship recipient, Haig Hovsepian.
Armenian-American violinist Haig Hovsepian is recognized as one of the most gifted musicians of his generation by renowned violinist Ilya Kaler. Beginning his musical journey at age four, Hovsepian's versatile artistry spans the violin, Armenian sh'vi, and saxophone, blending classical training, Armenian heritage, and American jazz.
Despite his young age, Hovsepian has performed across the US, Canada, Norway, Iceland, and Armenia, gracing prestigious stages like Carnegie Hall, Jordan Hall, and Boston's Symphony Hall. A Max Reger Ambassador prize winner at New England Conservatory's Preparatory division, he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music under Ilya Kaler.
Hovsepian has worked with distinguished teachers and mentors, including Ivan Zenaty, Angelo Xiang Yu, and the Dover String Quartet. His early successes include winning the "Classival" competition in Canada at age eleven and subsequent victories in other international competitions. He has debuted with orchestras such as the Boston Pops and performed for charitable causes, featured on NPR’s From the Top.
At 25, Haig Hovsepian continues to promote music across genres and cultures with sincere artistry and poise.
